Purpose of the Brotherhood Fund

The Subvets Brotherhood Fund benefits both Active Service Submariners and Submarine Veterans.

Its primary goal is to provide emergency relief in catastrophic situations and to support Active Service Submariners annually through the SubLant and SubPac Caring and Sharing programs.

Fund History

Originally established in 2000 by the United States Submarine Veterans Charitable Foundation, Inc. Lockwood Internet Base chapter as the "Dinner for Sailors" program, it continues today as the United States Submarine Veterans Charitable Foundation, Inc. National Caring and Sharing program.

Impact and Disbursements

Between 2011 and 2022, the Brotherhood Fund has disbursed over $85,000 supporting submarine veterans in need.

Funds have supported:

  • Atlantic and Pacific Submarine Force Sailor of the Year programs
  • Groton Base Thanksgiving dinners project
  • Caring & Sharing funds for medical and employment emergencies
  • Disaster relief efforts for hurricanes and the California Camp Fire

Response to COVID-19

During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the Brotherhood Fund addressed critical needs by supporting submarine veterans and families, including purchasing computers for homeschooling.
