The purpose of the Legacy Fund is to provide a means for Submarine Veterans, their families, and their friends to preserve the legacy of the submarine force. Serving aboard a submarine is one of the most important parts of their lives. Their acts of heroism and dedication should not fall prey to the ravages of time. By designating the United States Submarine Veterans Charitable Foundation as the beneficiary of your donation, you are helping keep these memories alive.

In the days leading up to your donation, you may want to seek the advice of an estate planner or other financial advisor to determine the best way to make your Legacy Gift to the Charitable Foundation. There are many ways for you to designate the individual fund and the structure of a donation. The Charitable Foundation has identified the following funds:

Scholarship Fund – provides academic scholarship to the veteran’s children.

Brotherhood Fund – provides financial assistance to veterans in crisis.

Building Fund – provides for the operation and maintenance any facility owned or used by USSVI.

Kap(SS) 4 Kid(SS) Fund – allows submarine veterans the opportunity to visit children who are suffering from challenging medical conditions.

Library Fund – maintains and makes available books, documents, videos, and audio materials to researchers.

Memorial & Museum Fund – donations not designated for a specific memorial help maintain the many submarine memorials and museums located throughout the United States.

General Fund – donations are allocated to fund specific projects and programs.

Commissioning Fund – allows USSVCF to work with a Ship’s Commissioning Committee in bringing about support and guidance to project managers.

Legacy Fund – provides a steady backbone for the Charitable Foundation Funds. Donated gifts remain intact, not subject to distribution, and only the earnings are used among the funds.

A donor may designate one, many, or all funds as the recipient of the donation.
